“Every time I take a step in the direction of generosity, I know that I am moving from fear to love.” Henri J.M. Nouwen
Thursday, May 17th, the Faith and Money Network will host a workshop titled, “Justice Giving: An Opportunity for Reflection.” Our presenter, Mark V. Ewert , is the author of a book called A Generosity Path. “The book,” he says, “is designed to enrich your experience and understanding of how to skillfully grow your giving to make a bigger difference in the world.”
I’m eager to hear what he has to say and invite you to join us that evening as we explore justice giving with him.
To pique your interest in the topic, I’ve listed a few quotes from his book below.
- …”my greatest opportunities for personal growth seem to be in learning how to be more open-hearted and open-handed – more generous.”
- “Generosity . . . . implies giving freely. . . . . It is about giving more than necessary . . . and . . . “more than expected.”
- “Your intuition and emotions will guide you in the direction your generosity should take.”
- “We cannot as individuals solve all of the world’s problems, and our resources have limits. We must make choices about what to do, the kind of change we want to make in the world.”
Who among us does not hope that as we approach the end of our lives we will be able to look back and say: “My life was not in vain; I really did make a difference in the world.”
Ewert, has spent years working with non-profits and helping individuals and families understand justice giving. It is a way of giving that he himself has been traveling for years, and he is inviting all of us to join him on this path for a while.
The Justice Giving workshop will be May 17th at the Potters House from 6:30 – 8:00. Online registration is available on our homepage.
Blessings on your exploration of justice giving,
Judy Osgood
