When I am feeling overwhelmed, Lord, I will pray . . .
Yesterday I started crying for no apparent reason and losing control like that really got to me. Given how much the virus has disrupted our lives, none of us should be surprised when that happens now and then Calm me down when I’m feeling anxious, Lord, and Remind me that tears bring physiological relief to hurting hearts and souls.
Let me not forget to express my gratitude Lord . . .
There are only six in our family, Lord, and we’re all separated geographically by thousands of miles. I’ve heard people say they are tired of Zoom, but for us just being able to see each other all at once for an hour or so every other week is enough to keep us from being overcome with loneliness. Thank you for the minds that produced that virtual medium and the joy it brings to our far-flung family and so many others.
As the virus swirls around us, Lord, I am praying . . .
Right now we’re losing the battle with the virus in America, Lord. The President is unwilling to accept responsibility for any decision related to taking safety measures like mandating the wearing of masks or business lockdowns. He disparages the advice of the medical experts and touts his hunches instead. Will there be any relief before we can replace him? Please, Lord, help us as a nation survive this pandemic and the President’s lack of leadership.
Thank you, Lord, for the courageous Governors and Mayors, for the Medical Experts, Health Officials and First Responders who are putting their jobs and their lives on the line to protect all of us.
Are you feeling mixed emotions these days too?
Writing out my prayers of petition and of gratitude helps me come to grips with stress and it might help you too. Praying for yourself, your family and our nation is a good place to begin.
Blessings on your efforts to pray when you’re feeling overwhelmed,
Judy Osgood
