In October 2025, a small group of nine people from Faith and Money Network embarked on a deeply meaningful Trip of Perspective to the ancestral lands of the Oglala Lakota people in South Dakota, centering their visit around Red Shirt Table. This wasn’t just a travel itinerary; it was a pilgrimage dedicated to listening, learning, and bearing witness to the land and its history.
Over the course of their journey, the participants visited sacred and significant sites that hold profound historical and spiritual weight, including the stunning Badlands, the majestic Black Hills, the Pine Ridge Reservation, and the hallowed ground of Wounded Knee. Beyond the landscapes, the heart of the trip was in the connections forged with the community. The group was privileged to meet and learn from local Lakota leaders, pastors, and artists, gaining essential perspectives on the intertwined themes of faith, history, economy, and resilience within the Oglala Lakota nation.
This photo series offers a glimpse into that transformative week. From the wide-open skies to the intimate gatherings, these images reflect a journey designed to deepen our understanding of justice, stewardship, and the lasting legacy of faith in the face of profound challenges.
