2018 NEXT Church National Gathering
Occured on: February 26, 2018Faith and Money Network will be leading a workshop during the 2018 NEXT Church National Gathering: Title: Leading Fully and Freely: Deepening Spiritual Authority Around Issues of Money. Description: In many churches, issues of money and budget are wilderness places: leaders must navigate competing priorities, anxiety about scarcity, and the perennial stewardship campaign. One way to lead with deeper spiritual authority is to work with the ways in which we ourselves are not free with respect to money. In this workshop, we will reflect on our own money stories and the practice of leading by example. What is our theology of money? How do we model a faithful relationship to money? How and to whom we give matters, of course, but the impact of our giving is also determined by our intentions and approach. Both this internal alignment and an orientation toward justice giving depend on our spiritual discernment. Mark Ewert’s participatory and informative workshop will call us into reflection toward greater clarity and purpose for our charitable use of money. Workshop Leader: Mark Ewert combines leadership coaching with philanthropy advising. He is an International Coaching Federation, […]
Trip of Perspective Haiti
Occured on: June 22, 2018On this trip to Haiti we will meet dedicated, grassroots leaders who are building inspiring, liberating community-based responses to systemic challenges. Hosted by our Haitian partners. We will learn about Haiti’s culture, its history and policies in relation to the US, and experience solidarity and accompaniment in action. Part of our time will be spent in a rural community, living in the homes of Haitian peasants: building relationships; discovering abundance in what looks like scarcity; and seeing long-term solutions, helping us make the connection with our own lives and communities at home. Daily reflection will anchor our experience. We seek to listen, learn and be present to the lives, circumstances, and relationships we experience in Haiti. Alongside our encounter with material poverty is an encounter […]
