Inequality through the Eyes of Patriotic Millionaires

“We will not make an endorsement in the presidential primary election, but will happily endorse almost any general election candidate running against Donald Trump.”

That blunt statement is from a 2019 summary of the Patriotic Millionaires, “a group of high-net worth Americans who share a profound concern about the destabilizing level of inequality in America.” They don’t mince words about the fact their goal is to “ensure that the country’s political economy is structured to meet the needs of regular Americans, rather than just millionaires.”

They read, they study, they keep track of, and they speak openly about what is happening in the halls of Congress.  Their attention is focused on three areas that have a major impact on inequality:  tax policy, the minimum wage, and equal political representation.

Make no mistake about it.  These men and women are deeply concerned about the impact of inequality on the lives of their fellow citizens.  They know the 2017 changes in our tax laws provided huge long-term benefits for those who do not need them, and only temporary relief for a portion of those who really do need help.

Legend tells us that Nero fiddled while Rome burned and we all know that Trump plays golf while the food lines grow in America.

It’s time:  Time to replace a President who cares more about himself and his own bank account than the people of America.  And it’s past time to retire the members of Congress who use the power they wield to enrich themselves.

In Oregon we have voted by mail for all of our elections for years.  It is a process that provides everyone with an equal opportunity to cast their ballot regardless of the color of their skin, their party affiliation, or their working hours, and it works very well.  Everyone who wants that option should have it.

What will you do to ensure all your fellow Americans have the right to vote?

Blessings on your efforts to reduce inequality in America,

Judy Osgood

“It was a wonderful encouragement because Brian Higgins [from “Stewards of God’s Creation: Connecting Faith and Money] didn’t say a lot of things about the frightening environmental crisis but about creative things he is actually doing to lower his carbon footprint. He made it sound easy and enjoyable. Your questions were relaxed and thought-provoking and invited Brian into both broader and deeper ways to express his passion for the health of the earth. It was energizing!” –listener from Washington, DC

“I miss my weekly radio conversations/listening to Mike and guests!!” –listener from Boise, ID
