Coming Soon: New Household Practices Covenant Groups

Why should economics be a matter of faith and practice for Christians? How can we privilege community over capital in our daily lives? What would it look like to build Sabbath economics into our personal giving, earning, banking, and investing?

Dig into these questions and more when you join Faith and Money Network leaders in 2025 for an eight-month commitment to exploring the seven principles of the Sabbath economics framework developed by Ched Myers and Bartimaeus Cooperative Ministries.

Our Household Practices Covenant Groups are for community members who have who have already completed a Sabbath Economics workshop or a Money, Faith and You study group and commit to meeting monthly and supporting one another in discerning how to put Sabbath economics to work in their daily lives.

What to Expect

A Faith and Money Network facilitator will lead each online group (via Zoom video conference) for a two-hour session once a month for eight months. We’re gauging interest for new groups now. The monthly date and time will be determined based on the participants’ availability.

Each monthly two-hour session provides participants with the chance to check in on their progress and practice of specific actions they’ve identified, as well as encouraging and providing accountability for other group members. Group facilitators send material between monthly sessions that enhances the learning experience and gives participants the opportunity to dive into each component with videos, readings, podcasts, and/or interviews.

Here’s what past participants have said about their Covenant Group experience:

I loved the easy nature of it. People shared and were transparent. There was a natural, implicit accountability in that you wanted to do the work and be ready and honest about what you shared, but nothing was forced or legalistic.

This experience really highlighted for me how much I need an accountability group to encourage and inspire me to persevere against the pushback I received from others.

It spurred good reflection, conversation, and action with others and ultimately in our own household.

Marti and Bill Mefford share their experience participating in a Covenant Group.

What our listeners are saying:

"The Faith and Money Podcast is so inspirational and practical that it will make you want to delve into your money concerns. Through the interviews with an amazing array of people, Mike leads us into an understanding of our money that begins with the numbers and moves on to the soul. A must-listen to for anyone struggling with any aspect of money management – having too little or too much.” –listener from Washington, DC

“I just listened to your most recent episode and found myself weeping. It touched something deep in me.” –pastor and listener from Seattle, WA

“I have listened to all your programs, and I am learning something new with each one. Many thanks for these thoughtful, informative shows.” –listener from Washington, DC

“It was a wonderful encouragement because Brian Higgins [from “Stewards of God’s Creation: Connecting Faith and Money] didn’t say a lot of things about the frightening environmental crisis but about creative things he is actually doing to lower his carbon footprint. He made it sound easy and enjoyable. Your questions were relaxed and thought-provoking and invited Brian into both broader and deeper ways to express his passion for the health of the earth. It was energizing!” –listener from Washington, DC

“I miss my weekly radio conversations/listening to Mike and guests!!” –listener from Boise, ID
